History of Butea superba

Butea superba (Red Kwao Krua) is a Twinning wood of long life herbal plant existing only in certain parts of Thailand. Butea superba reproduces through seeds and the separation of its roots. It can be found growing in forests in Thailand's Northern and Eastern regions and along Kanchanaburi Province in the central region. This plant species can be found in the same habitat as Pueraria mirifica and is more abundant in mountainous areas. The long-shaped tubers accumulate at least 15 chemicals in the group of direct chain organic acid, sterol, sterol glycoside, flavonoids and flavonoid glycoside.

Butea superba is an herb in the family Papilonaceae and has the characteristics of a crawling vine that wraps itself around large trees. One branch has three leaves. The flowers are of a yellowish orange color and the plant grows in the open. The long roots of the plant are buried under the ground, similar to the roots of a yam.

The roots and stem of the plant are part of traditional medicine used for strength and vitality. In addition, the roots and stem of the plant are considered to help increase the male sexual performance. Thus, this plant has come to be known as a miracle herb. Since Butea superba helps to enhance human health, it was considered to be an essential factor to study the chemical constituents of this herb.

Species: Due to the dispersed habitat of the plant, many varieties have been found. Finally, cultivars were studied and selected for commercialized plantation and were named as Butea I and II.

Chemical properties: Butea superba exhibits some characteristics closely related to that of the Pueraria mirifica herb, and others which are very different.

The crude extract of this herb showed some similar reaction to that of the male pill - Viagra. It shows the same vasodilatation effect as the Viagra Tablet. Its chemicals also promote an energetic body, without nervous, muscular or cardiac over-stimulation. This is the reason why this herbal product can be labeled and promoted as “Herbal Viagra”.

While the commercial drug for the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction is of great public interest - despite its serious adverse effects, some even related to death - the herbal product Butea superba with its equally efficient, but safe action, should be a most welcome alternative.

Researchers have found that Butea superba products can be ingested as a health food supplement, and can be applied as a topical application, i.e. as a cosmetic gel product.

Herbal supplements are not pharmaceuticals - a clinical response may only be noticed after several weeks of regular consumption
